Hamburger Illustrated Encyclopedia
2014
Installation
I completed "Hamburger Illustrated Encyclopedia" during my one-month stay in FRISE.
First, I asked local people to bring me what they thought represented Hamburg.
They bought me Franzbrotchen, bib with the logo of one of the local football team, a piece of broken tile of local butcher shop, etc. with their own stories.
I felt that all of them were connected through The Elbe River.
I scoped up some water from the river and filled it into some bowls, I drew some illustrations inspired with these stories, and put them on the waters.
I build up the collected items and bowls altogether into the work.
